The 28th Cavalry Regiment of Sam's Army is a Motorcycle Club from the Great State of Texas which supports the US National Soccer Teams.

We are no different than regular Sam's Army members, except that we ride motorcycles.

Red

That is me in the shades, along with fellow 28th Cav member, Parrish Glover.

Here is my trusty steed, Noel!

Mostly, we ride on game-days, whether that is riding to the game site or to the watching party.  See below for details.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!  On November 2, 2003, the US WNT will take on Mexico at the Cotton Bowl!  Contact me if you want in on tickets to the game or want to ride with us that day - still working on details.

Right now, the current plan is a 9 a.m. ride, probably to a BBQ joint somewhere north, to return around 1 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl.  I am looking at what has been suggested by some friends, Clark's BBQ Outpost in Tioga.  Ride Texas magazine put in a good word for it in their March 2003 issue.  Check back for more details, but tentatively plan on leaving  from Al Lamb's Honda on 635 at 9 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2003, bring a red shirt for the game, and be ready to ride!

If you live in the DFW Metroplex and are interested, please contact me for more information.  We are always growing and would like to find a way to include anyone interested in riding and enjoying soccer.  If you live elsewhere in Texas, contact me as well, although right now we are mostly located in Dallas.  See below for membership information.

Take a look at other Sam's Army information.  Sam's Army is the unofficial supporters club for the US national soccer teams.

RIDES

Keep an eye on Sam's Army for upcoming USA matches, and odds are there will be a ride associated with it -- at least locally.  Most recently, we rode to the USA-Mexico match in Houston, Texas on May 8, 2003.

Additionally, take a gander at the Inferno Motorcycle Club page.  With all of the upcoming Burn games, there will be reason enough to ride in the Metroplex.

And contact me if you have any questions or comment.

I also highly recommend the Travelers Guide to American Soccer for information about USSF, MLS, WUSA and USL sites.

Take a read of Past Rides for a feel of what we do.

MEMBERSHIP

Basically, ride with us.  That is all there is to it.  Granted, to be an "official" member, you do have to join Sam's Army.  Hopefully, if you like riding with us and like theUS National Teams, that will come naturally.

For more information on The Army, take a look at their website or contact me.

Keep in mind, we do two things -- we ride, and we watch soccer.  Usually, that is in regards to the US National Teams.  But we have been known to head out to SMU for a college game (mens or womens), or to The Dallas Cup, or to other soccer events such as Burn games, etc.  And with it looking like there will be an MLS team somewhere in Oklahoma or in Houston in 2004, all the more reason to ride!  Join us, and make your suggestions known!

No, all of these guys don't ride with the 28th Cav, but they could without question.  These are some hard core MFs.  Most of them are Metro Boys.  That is me with the drum in the upper left hand corner.  This picture was taken in Korea after we had SMOKED Mexico, 2-0.  Their passion inspired me to take it to a whole new level.

NOEL!

Noel
Noel is a 2003 Honda Shadow ACE 750. All black.  All mine.  Currently she has 3,941 miles (and rising) on her.

I put bags and a windshield on.  I also added a back rest for the passenger seat.

She is named in Laura's and my favorite song, Teenage Dirtbag.  Check out Highway Child for more info general on motorcycling. Also, take a look at The Road to Perdition -- my riding diary.

PAST RIDES

What a trip!  With the USA-Mexico match set for Reliant Stadium in Houston, we left that morning.  While there was a bit of wind -- and the windshield I had not yet installed would have come in handy -- it was also a good, smooth ride.  It was a beautiful, clear day that was not too warm to wear the full gear (except when stuck in Houston traffic -- which we did because of a monster of a wreck just outside the Houston city limits!)

As I was more concerned with making the game and not ready to have the possible snafus related to back-roads, we took I-45 the whole way.  Next time, we will plan ahead some more and get that un-straightened out, if ya' know what I mean. ;-)

The game was AWESOME!  If you haven't seen it before, here is my match report for Sam's Army. The trip back on Friday was pretty cool, as well.  On the way down, I paced myself -- only doing an hour at a time.  Since I had not made a five hour treck before, I figured that was the smart way to go.  On the way back, though, I was able to stretch it out a bit, eventually doing two hours in the last go.  The fact that the wind was behind me instead of in my face made it all the easier.

Here is hoping Hosuton gets more USA matches, and hopefully an MLS or WUSA side for another excuse to travel down that way again.  ( Back to 'Rides' section )
