Anything Can Happen

What else is there to say?  A lot, of course. Let's start with my match report for  Sam's Army .

Needless to say, after nine years of waiting, it was quite the experience to pull it off on the home turf.

This a set of pictures of some of the people who put in the Heavy Lifting to make this happen.

Thanks to Yellow Card Journalism Photos for the pictures - go HERE to see all of the YCJ pictures from this game.

Wade Hinkle

Wade

The vast majority of the flags are his - his menagerie has been displayed at many an Army game, and always represents well.
Charlie Helms

Charlie

Charlie has been Regular Army forever.  A veteran of France '98, she is no Johnny Come Lately.  She was a huge part of the organizational process.
Mark "Jonno" Johnson

Jonno

President of The Inferno.  (Sorry I don't have a bigger picture.)  Like Dustin, without his help and support, this doesn't happen.

Ed Bazan

EdBazan

Like Charlie, a long time Sammer and hugely important to keeping things together.
Mike Seagroves

Seagroves

Oklahoma boy who drove down for the game.  Huge Fire fan (no one is perfect) and got out the belt for Mexico.
Vince Stravino and Stephan Foustus

VinceandStephan

Vince is a longtime Army Regular and a veteran of Korea '02 from Tennessee.  Props for the traveling ones.  Stephan works for the Wall Street Journal and National Public Radio and was in town to see what it was all about.
The True Vince

Vince

Vince is probably the wildest guy in The Army.  In Korea, Vince was at a bar where the Irish National Team showed up - and Vince had a great time except that he was disappointed they out-drank him.
Chris Caruthers

Caruthers

Chris is one of the new blood in The Inferno and has really stepped it up.  I don't have picutres of Mudpoet, Zen and others from this game, but this may be the biggest part of this game - the infusion of new energy and ideas.  This is the future.  It is in good hands.
Me and John Kessel

TAILGATE

Tailgate

This picture was taken as the Tailgate started to get going.  This was during a television interview.  You can see many Inferno and Army Regulars, including Northside Rovers (upper left).

REFERENCES

"Anything Can Happen" is from Prime Mover, a song by Rush, off of their Hold Your Fire album.  "From the point of conception to the moment of truth, at the point of surrender to the burden of proof, from the point of ignition to the final drive - the point of the journey is not to arrive - Anything Can Happen."  Needless to say, while I knew the guys could do it on the field, and I knew we could do it in the stands, it still had to Happen.  Obviously, it did.
