DALLAS DEFEATS
EDMONTON, 4-2
The Stars took out the Oilers in Game Six to advance to play . . . the Anaheim
Mighty Ducks? Poor Detroit -- NOT! |

Are they kickin' some NHL butt or what!!!!! To
borrow a phrase, they're wicked smart! They've spent what seems like
the first two months of the season on the road, and they have continued
to tear this league up!
I would like to see some better work on The Job, although The Kill has been pretty sharp. Mostly, though, this team needs to start winning the face-off battles like they used to. Other than that, though, right now there is little to complain about. Great job by our All-Stars (Mo, Bill and Marty)! |

Mike gets Point No. 1000!!!!!!!!!
Mike Modano is only one of five US- Born players who have scored 1000 points in their NHL career, and he has done it all with the STARS! And how about our boys, eh? 9-02
My guess? They will play well this year but not win the cup this year. Maybe conference semis or finals, probably not the Stanley Cup finals. The year after will be the real proving point. This group will have learned how to play together (or not, as last year's group did) and Marty will have a year under his belt -- most importantly, they will also have been through the playoffs and probably learned how to fight together. 4-02
We're out. Can't say I'm surprised. The team never really got it together. Here is hoping that the new staff can put something together so we can start over and build another champion. Even though I knew it needed to be savored, and I savored it at the time, it still hurts to know that the Stars were once the class of the NHL. There is a long road ahead, so let's roll up the sleeves and get to work. 1-02
Well, the Bob Gainey/Ken Hitchkock Era is now over. As of Friday, January 25, 2002, Hitchkock has been fired as the coach and Gainey has accelerated his retirement from the General Manager position. A team that has struggled ever since winning the Stanley Cup, the team with players the likes of Mike Modano, Eddie Belfour and Darian Hatcher is struggling to keep pace with the San Jose Sharks for first in the Pacific Division this season. Personally, I think Ken and especially Bob were class acts who did what they felt was in the best interests of the hockey club. We have them to thank for our Stanley Cup. Maybe now is the right time to move on. I guess time will tell. |
