Here we come to the 1997 US Open Cup Champion Dallas Burn page. Part of the Original Ten of Major League Soccer, the Burn have been close to ultimate success often and have reached it once, defeating D.C. United in the 1997 US Open Cup Championship.

With past stars such as Leonel Alvarez, Alain Sutter, Mark Dodd, Dante Washington and Mark Santel, as well as current stars Jason Kreis (1999 MLS MVP), Ariel Graziani, Jorge 'Zarco' Rodruigez, Oscar Pareja and Chad Deering, the Burn have posted a winning season almost every year.

The Burn have inspired numerous fan groups, including The Inferno Suporters Club and La Mara Loca. You can find the Inferno SC webpage below.
That is a picture of some of The Inferno SC above. We are sometimes known as the Sambatistas -- the drummers of The Inferno. Add in another 20-40 regular members, and you have The Inferno SC.
From The Inferno SC came The Inferno Football Club, which began as members of the SC playing kickaround to where now the Club has over five teams in varying degrees of skill -- including the Third Division (of 11) of the North Texas Premier Soccer Association.

The Burn has also inspired some wonderful journalism. Over time, different websites devoted to the Burn developed into what is now The 3rd Degree, a website run and organized by Buzz Carrick. Please find that link below.
Ultimately, I hope to add pages for a few of the Burn players who I think need some recognition. Jason Kreis, for one, and Ariel Graziani for another. I think that the league and other people should know more about how wonderful a person is Oscar Pareja. More information will (hopefully) become available about Jorge 'Zarco' Rodruigez, as well as the 1997 USOC Championship.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective) the Burn are not going to lose anyone to the World Cup this summer. We thought that would be a good thing in 1998, but it turned into one of our worst years ever -- although it did lay the foundation for the current version of the Burn. The Burn may be adding a stadium and an owner soon.
