We have had a lot of rain the past few months and that has given all the plants a very good start to the growing season. My hydrangeas have never been so deeply colored. They are just beautiful this year.

If you are wondering what the red things are beneath the plants well....my little Chancy thinks he needs to dig holes for me to plant more flowers so I have laid Coke crates in the flower beds to keep him from helping me so much. :) A friend gave us the crates many years ago and they have come in handy many times for different things.

The blue hydrangea on the left came from my Mother-in-law's plant over 30 years ago. We now have three of them that we started from the start she gave me. The purple one on the right my hubby bought for me about 3 years ago. It was not doing well on the north side of the house so last spring I moved it to the flowerbed on the east side and this year is is very pretty.

The purple one looks a bit pink in the picture but in real life it is a very beautiful purple color. The leaves are very shiny and it is not supposed to grow as tall as the usual hydrangea plants.

We have gotten to know some of our neighbors that have lived across the street from us, some have been there a couple of years and the others not quite a year. They are all very nice people and good neighbors who keep up their yards and homes. We have a really nice neighborhood now but for about three places, hopefully they will get with the program soon and do something about their yards and homes.

The stray dog population has improved and I am sure glad of that. I feel so sorry for all the dogs that are dumped and I cannot possibly take in and care for them all.

The birds and squirrels are still happy and doing well. Angel one of our big dogs caught a squirrel the other day and my hubby chased her down and took it away from her. As he was putting the squirrel over the fence it bit my hubby on the finger so he said he would not help any more squirrels. I told him he knew better than to try to do something like that anyway, he said he knew that but he did not want Angel to hurt the squirrel. Mercy! He was thinking more about that little squirrel than he was of his own safety. No one should ever pick up a wild animal especially when it is terrified. I did the doctor act on his finger and it was a bit sore the next day but by the second day it was doing pretty well and has healed quickly.

That is all the news around Mumsy's Place for the moment.
