Our
daughter started a new job. After hubby took her to sign the papers
she needed to sign and to pick up her uniform, hubby and my
conversation went something like this...
"Well,
did you get her there alright?" "Yep, I got her there
alright." (
After thinking a few seconds)
"Where is Arby's anyway?" "You know where Burger King
and Pizza Hut is? " Yes, I know where they are."
"Well Arby's is right beside Pizza Hut. There is only one way
you can get to Pizza Hut and Arby's, you have to turn in the
driveway at Burger King to get to them, they have no entrance from
the street."
(After
thinking again I say)
"So you turn in the drive and if you want to go to Pizza Hut or
Arby's you turn left and if you are going to Burbber King,
you turn right." (After a big laugh hubby says) "Yep!
turning right will take you right to Burbber King.
While
this conversation was going on I was preparing dinner and getting it
on the table for us to eat. We sat down and was quietly eating our
dinner when hubby says
"Oh, gas is down to $2.02 an hour at the Phillips
station"
I say "It
is huh? I am sure glad it is going down, $2.02 and hour is a
pretty good price for gas if you fill up fast." By
that time he caught what he had said and we both laughed until our
face hurt.

Stewed
Tomatoes
A
friend of mine who comes to visit me quite often was over one day.
This is a senior moment I had on that day...
The
two of us had been sitting at the table playing Scrabble as we often
do when she comes. I noticed it was getting on up in the day and
told my friend that I needed to get something on to cook for us to
eat. I decided that I would just put together a quick pot of stew
since that would be easy and we could play our game while it
cooked.
I
went to the kitchen and gathered up what I needed to put the stew
together. I browned the meat, drained it and put it in the pot where
I had already put in the diced onions, celery, potatoes, and
carrots.
I
went to the pantry to get a couple of cans of stewed tomatoes, came
back to the kitchen and was talking to my friend. As I continued
talking I opened a can of the tomatoes and was pouring them from the
can when I heard my friend say...."Why are you putting those
tomatoes in the trash?"
When
she said that, I looked and there I was standing at the trash can
slowly pouring the stewed tomatoes in the trash can that I should
have been putting in the pot to make stew.
I
saved, maybe a third of the can of tomatoes and it was a good thing
I had another can. I did finally get the stew put together and it
was quite tasty. Thanks to my friend letting me know I was putting
the tomatoes in the wrong pot. :)

Making
Tea
I
had brewed a gallon of tea earlier and forgotten about it. I went in
to wash a few dishes that we had messed up during the afternoon and
there was the tea still sitting in the jug atop the stove waiting
for me to sweeten it and put it in the fridge.
I
bounced over to the counter, grabbed up the canister, bounced back
over to the stove, opened the canister when my husband who was
standing beside me looking over my shoulder said..."Whataya
doin hon?" Just about the time the words had finished flowing
from his mouth I noticed that I was about to put a tea bag in my
brewed tea. He then said "I thought for a minute there you were
going to brew it twice."
Oh,
my goodness!! I say as I put the tea bag back into the canister,
return it to the counter and promptly get the sugar canister as
hubby is watching me closely.
I
left him with these words "You better be glad you said
something when you did, before I wet that tea bag, or I would have
been upset with you!" He just laughed at me and quietly replied
"I was thinking you may have thought it wasn't strong
enough." Then he left the kitchen laughing and left me in the
kitchen laughing.
Oh,
what fun we have keeping each other on the right track.
