Boeing 747 During the summer of 1966, LTV/Vought was one of a number of independent contractors, which aided Boeing Aircraft in the Seattle based Pre-design phase of the 747 Jumbo Jet. The first of the wide bodied aircraft, and those to follow, were made for ... Pan American Airways. LTV/Vought contracted to design and build the aft body, and empennage. |

Boeing 747 Following the pre Design phase, in Seattle, LTV/Vought completed the final pre production design of the aft body and empannage, in a specially provided Arlington, Texas facility. A new building was built on Marshall Street in south Arlington, for the manufacture of this part of the Boeing 747. |
